Haircuts

This week has been crazy. On Monday, my companion and I took our trust in each other to a whole new level and we gave each other haircuts, and it actually didn't turn out that bad. This week while tracting we have found a lot more people to talk to and one of the things that I have learned as a missionary is that God blesses us with hard times so that we can learn and change so He can use us as better instruments in His hands in the future. Some blessings come after a lot of hard yakka (work) and in the Lord's time.  So on Thursday, we had follow up training for the new missionaries so we had to wake up at 5 and drive two and a half hours to the mission office. There we got to practice teach Pres Fife and talked about the importance of our prayers with God.  On Saturday, we got a ride with the senior couple and were able to attend the temple with the branch. I love the temple. Then later that night we had the adult session of stake conference. Then yeste...
G'day mates, hope everything is going right. This week has been pretty awesome down here. So this week it has been hot. We had a really cool miracle this week. We had biked up a hill and locked our bikes up and then started knocking doors. When we got back to our bikes we found a note attached that had an address and said to come by if we had time. So of course we went and visited the house and met a young Aussie bloke. We started talking to him and he asked us some questions about what he had heard about the Mormon church like if we believe Mary was a virgin, and from there we talked about the Book of Mormon and then were able to teach him the Restoration. At the very end he told us that he would come to church to check us out. It was such a cool experience. Also at church this Sunday we had quite a few less active show up and a nonmember daughter. It is always such a great feeling to see people come back to church and the spirit is always so strong.  Anyway, have...

Mission Conference

G'day everyone, this week was awesome. So on Wednesday we had a mission conference with Elder Haleck of the seventy who is the Pacific Area President. In the conference they talked about the importance of the Book of Mormon. There is no other book that will help us come closer to God as we daily read, ponder, pray, and apply those things we learn. They talked about some of the missionaries from the Book of Mormon that went through struggles and challenges but God used those to make them into great missionaries. Also at the conference we learned that the Australia Perth mission will be the test area in Australia for Justserve.org which will open up a lot more opportunities to do service and spread the gospel.  One of the miracles we had this week was while we were tracting in Katanning at the very last house on the street, we met a lady that had been baptized but had to become Muslim after she married her husband. She lives with her son and we started talki...

Golden Fire

Man this week has been crazy. So on Monday Elder Given and I went and hiked Yilliminning Rock which is a really big rock. It was pretty cool. Then on Tuesday night we traveled up to Perth and stayed with the zone leaders. The next morning we headed up to the mission office and had a training the trainers meeting. There were six of us there to train. After the meeting all three of us elders that were training got to stay with the zone leaders by the mission office. Then later that night president gave us permission to go to the temple because we were all out in country. Man I love the temple and it is definitely a great blessing to have the opportunity to attend.  The very next day we got to the mission office and waited for our goldens to arrive. When they came we lined up facing each other and Pres Fife called out the golden’s name and who was training them. So my companion is Elder Mejia and he is from Melbourne but his parents are Filipino. He is super awesome and he ha...
