This week has been awesome. The Kalgoorlie area has been on
fire. Mostly because it has been super-hot but also because we have been able
to find a lot of people who are keen to hear the message.
So on Monday we had a meeting with our ward mission a leader
where we created a ward mission plan to present in ward council. It is really
based on helping individuals and families create plans for ways they can share
the gospel.
On Wednesday we had another meeting with Hoje the man from
China we are teaching. He is leaving this week to head back to China and we
will definitely miss him. Being able to meet with him has really helped me
realize how blessed we are to have always been able to attend church where ever
we have lived. Some place in the world like China don't have as many members
and it can be hard for them to meet together. Hopefully he will be able to get
in contact with the members in China when he gets back. That evening we had
dinner with a lot of the members of the ward for New Zealand. Then later that
night met with one of the counselors in the bishopric and his family who just
got back to town. They gave us cake and after we started eating it they told us we had to pay for it and the way we pay
for it was to sing them a song. So both my companion and I had to do a solo. I
sang there is sunshine in my soul and then Elder Afualo sang his in both Samoan
and English. It's funny because there are so many Samoans here and it's nice
having a companion that can translate for me.
The next day we had a lesson with a member that joined the
church in Queensland Australia, before moving over here to Kalgoorlie. She has
such a cool conversion story and has a huge desire to go to the temple. The
rest of her family is not members so we will be trying to work with them.
We also met with another of the families we are teaching and
read a chapter from the Book of Mormon with them. Our invitation to them was to
read the Book of Mormon this year.
One of the cool miracles we had this week was on Friday when
we went tracting. At one of the houses we knocked in we met this lady from New
Zealand and she told us she was a member but hadn't been to church in years.
She also said it was funny because she had been talking with her mom that week
about going back to church and then a couple days later we rocked up to her
door. Then later that day we met another lady who was a member and hadn't been
to church for ages as well. It is always cool being led by the Spirit to those
that are needing us.
On Saturday we had a lesson with one of the families that we
found this week. The mom and the 8year old daughter are very interested and
said they might be baptized if they know the message was true.
Later that night we had a dinner appointment with a couple
from South Africa. We helped them move the other week so they invited us back
for dinner. They weren't too keen to hear our message but they were super good
people.
It was funny because we went to maccas (McDonald's) the other
day and I had a funny argument with this one guy who thought I must be from
northern England because of my accent.
Yesterday on Sunday we went had an awesome time doing some
finding and then had dinner with some more of the members.
That's about all I think. I hope everyone has an awesome
week.
Love
Elder Nelson
