Wednesday, I got transferred down to
Narrogin. The elders from Narrogin drove up that morning and then Elder Richins
and I drove down to the mission office in Perth. I had to get my working with
children card because we are both in the young men’s presidency. After that we
drove for two hours down to Narrogin. Our new flat is really nice but it looks
super bad from the outside. It is three floors and it is over a restaurant on Main
Street. The only way to get in is from the back alley.
Anyway, Narrogin is a really small
town and our area is huge. There are lots of farmland and sheep in the area.
They have a branch here and they might make a new dependent branch down in Kattaning
which is like an hour and a half from here. My companion, Elder Richins, is
from Henefer Utah which is a small town northeast of Salt Lake. He has been out
14 months and been in Narrogin for 1 transfer so we are both new to the
area.
So this week we have visited a few
members and potentials and did some tracting. One of the members here is Duncan
Cowley who is the son of Matthew Cowley (he is a pretty famous apostle down
here). Duncan told us stories about how he has been chastised by past
presidents of the church.
On Friday, we got to Skype in to district
meeting which didn’t really work that well. The sound decided to stop working
halfway through but that’s OK because the spirit is always there to teach you
even when everything breaks.
On Saturday, we went to the
community garden and helped fill a garden box with dirt and pull weeds. While
we were working I was attacked by a deadly Australian animal. JK I was walking
along and a stupid bee ran into my hand and stung my poor pinkie.
We found out that we would be
getting a senior couple a couple weeks ago and today they came down to Narrogin.
they asked us where the place to go get food was and we told them Coles because
it is the only place. We then decided to go meet them at Coles and see how they
were doing. The senior couple is Elder and Sister Bennett and they are from
Oregon. They seem like a really good couple and we are excited to work with
them. It’s also nice because that means I’m not the newest missionary anymore. later
that day we went down to Wagin about 30 min away and did some tracting, after
that we went back to the Bennett's flat to give them some info on the
area.
On Sunday, we had church at 9:00 but
it started at super late. This Sunday, the entire stake decided to fast for
missionary work and at church there were 30 people which is apparently a lot
more than usually. I LOVE FASTING! #miracles. We had a couple less active
families come from distant towns which was awesome. During second hour we
taught gospel principles and for priesthood we were all together in the chapel.
After church we went to an older ladies house to take her the sacrament in
Wickepin.
I am so excited to hear this weekend
general conference. It’s sad to hear about Elder Hales. This upcoming week is
going to be great. We have general conference and zone conference. I can’t wait
to hear from all you and I hope you guys have a great week.
Love,
Elder Nelson
