So this week was one of the coolest
weeks so far. On Tuesday we headed down to Katanning. As we were walking down
the streets we saw a potential investigator, Darrell, and he stopped us and
told us to come back in 30 minutes. We came back and had a great discussion
with him about the Book of Mormon and the restoration as we walked around
a park. We invited him to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it and he said
he would. After that we visited a part member family we recently found and had
another really good discussion with the partner Tom. He told us that he felt a
lack of purpose in life and that those things that he has done in his past
didn't seem to bring him lasting happiness. He told us he was ready to change
for his children and try something new out. We all felt the spirit so strong as
we talked to him about the restoration and how God is our loving Heavenly
Father. We invited him to pray and read, and we got a return appointment. It’s
awesome being able to see the miracles that God does. Everyone is given the
experiences they need to help them change and grow. Anyway that was
awesome getting 2 new investigators in a day when we have had no one in our
teaching pool before. The work is really hastening.
On Wednesday we went with a less
active and helped to put rocks along the bottom of a fence. they are making a
sanctuary for a rare Narrogin belle flower.
This week they had the Narrogin
Agricultural show which is like a county fair. We had a booth at the show for
family history and we have also been volunteering to help set up the show. on
Thursday we helped set up tables and put up wall board things. While we were
volunteering we got a call from the mission office and they told me that I had
to get certified to drive so later that day I took a test on the computer and on
Friday I got to drive around Narrogin. Oh boy it was fun. The hardest part
wasn't driving on the left side of the rode, it was sitting on the right side
of the car. My companion kept freaking out because I kept drifting to the left
but we didn't die so everything was alright. I also hit the windscreen wipers a
couple of times instead of the blinker because the turn signal switch is on the
right side of the steering wheel. It was funny. Also on Friday we got to watch
the priesthood session of General Conference finally which was awesome.
On Saturday we had our booth at the
show. We along with the senior couple and some members handed out pamphlets on
family history. It was awesome because we got to talk to a lot of people. For
lunch we walked around the fair grounds and got some tacos from a Indianish
food truck. it was so spicy, I’d probably die if I had the real Indian food.
Anyway since my companion worked on a sheep farm he went crazy when he saw the
sheep. He kept pointing at different sheep and telling me more than I ever need
to know about sheep. It was funny. After the show we had a lesson with a part
member family and watched fireworks after.
Lastly on Sunday my companion Elder
Richins spoke in church along with the branch president. Crazy story: During
priesthood an old lady pops her head in the chapel and we go over and talk to
her. Neither of us know her but she tells us her husband fell in the bathroom
and can’t get up. we walk with her over to her house and help her husband get
up and into a chair. they use their life alert to call an ambulance and we
waited there with them. The husband was in a lot of pain and thought he broke
his hip again. When the ambulance gets there two old ladies get out and one of
them is a potential we have. We get the man in the ambulance and then take off
back to church. Hopefully he will be ok.
Anyway today we will be heading up
to wave rock which is a big rock that looks like a wave. I hope you guys have a
good week.
