This past week has been pretty awesome. So at the start of this week we had our zone conference with President and Sis. Bennallack and the rest of the missionaries in the zone. The focus was on the doctrine of Christ and helping those we work with to become converted to Christ's gospel through keeping commitments. We also were able to discuss some of the things from conference and as part of that our mission President gave us the challenge to finish the Book of Mormon by the end of the year just as President Nelson gave to the women of The Church. I have definitely been enjoying the challenge so far.
On Tuesday night we had a lesson with one of the part member families in the ward. We were able to share the restoration with him and it was a great lesson. I love when we teach and people talk about how it makes sense. It reminds me of when my calculus teacher used to say "of course it makes sense, it's math." Except now it's "of course it makes sense, it's the gospel of Jesus Christ!"

Then on Thursday we visited with a family that has started coming back to church. It is awesome to see as their testimonies are strengthened as they live the gospel. Then we visited with another part member family. The dad is the nonmember and as we talked with him he told us that he wanted to eventually join the church but told us that there are a few things that he will need to do first and so it would be a long process. But we are excited to see him have the goal of going to the temple to be sealed for time and all eternity with his family. Then after we left the appointment it started to rain. As we were riding to our dinner appointment it started raining really hard, got super windy and cold, and then it started to hail. It got so bad that I lost sight of my companion who was riding in front of me. So after a while I still had no idea which way he went so I hid under a tree for protection and said a prayer. And right after I said amen I heard a shout from my companion as he rode towards me from the other side of a park. (I'm still not sure how he got all the way over on the other side of the park) The cool part of the story is that after getting separated from each other we both felt to say a prayer and were able to find each other pretty fast. So after getting changed into dry clothes we went with a part member family to a Portuguese chicken restaurant called Nandos.

On Saturday we were able to meet a man from Africa who the missionaries had taught previously. We shared about the Book of Mormon and prophets and as we taught I came to realize all the blessings that I have received from knowing that there is a prophet in these days that directs and guides us.

On Sunday we got up and right when we did, we remembered that we had ward council that morning. So we rushed to shower, get ready, and then bike to the chapel and then got there right before it started at 7:00. Then in sacrament meeting there was a talk from the bishop's son who returned early from his mission because he broke his arm pretty bad. After it heals up he will be heading back out. So while he is here we will be using him as much as we can to come to lessons visit people.
Anyway I hope everyone has an awesome week.

Elder Nelson
