This week was pretty crazy. So on Monday I had my last
preparation day here in Butler. We also met with the Anitereas who we have been
teaching and I am sad to go but I look for hearing about their baptism in the
coming weeks.
Then on Tuesday was my birthday so the other elders came and
surprised me with a cake. Then the rest of the day I finished packing and said
good bye to a couple of the members in the ward.
Then on Wednesday we got up early and the zone leaders
picked me up and took me to the bus station in Perth. Then I loaded my stuff on
the bus and then for the next 6 hours I travelled up to Geraldton all by
myself. The ride was pretty cool and I saw a family of wild emus which was
awesome. When I got to Geraldton I met the other missionaries and my companion Elder
Afualo. He is pretty cool. He is straight from Samoa and has been out for just
six weeks.
The area here is pretty nice and has heaps of potential. The
town has ten times more people here than in Narrogin, one of my past country
branches, but the branch here is pretty similar. There are only about 30
members that come to church. But we are hoping to see lots of growth here soon.
I'm also loving the area because the flat we have is super
nice and new. And we also have a car so it is fun to be able to drive again.
The rest of the week we have been doing heaps of tracting
here and meeting some of the people we are working with. There are a lot of
people being prepared here to receive the gospel. Just this week while tracting
we met a girl that told us she had been thinking just that day about finding a
church to go to. So that was pretty cool.
Then this Saturday we had a thanksgiving dinner with the
branch at one of the caravan parks in our area. It was a really good
thanksgiving dinner and I was able to meet with a good number of the members in
the branch. Also at the event was the self-reliance senior couple who drove up
from Perth. They are also from America so it was just them and me representing
the states. Then later that evening we had a sing-along with some of the
Christmas hymns.
On Sunday we had church and here in the branch they have
been meeting for just two hours for a while so they are already ahead of the
rest of the world. Also at church I got to bless the sacrament again which is
something I haven't done since Narrogin. Then in sacrament meeting we had the self-reliance
missionaries speak and one thing they discussed is the gathering of Israel and
how important that we remember our responsibility to share the gospel and bring
others to Christ.
And then after church we had a munch and mingle.
I hope everyone has an awesome week and have fun with
LightTheWorld as it starts this week.
Love,
Elder Nelson
