Broken bikes

This has been a pretty crazy week. So to start off last Monday after emailing we went to a park here in Kalgoorlie and saw some emus. We also went up to the this big water reservoir that holds all the water for Kalgoorlie. Since we are in the middle of the desert all the water has to be pumped in. It was pretty cool.We also met with a family that hadn't been to church in a while. I remember as we visited with them the wife told us that she misses the spirit being in the home. It made me think about how from the gospel we receive so many blessing especially being able to have the Spirit with us. I hope we will be able to help this family to come back to church so that they can receive those same blessings they once had.

On Tuesday after lunch we had an appointment with a couple that we met tracting. I was super excited for the visit because they seemed keen as. When we got to the house and knocked no one answered. So we decided to say a prayer and then felt that we should come back in about 30 mins. While we were waiting we went and knocked on a couple houses and met a lady who had a great love for Jesus Christ. We gave her a copy of the Book of Mormon and she told us we could come back. After talking with her we went back to the couples house and knocked on the door. Again no one answered but right when we were about to leave they pulled up in their car and let us come in. We shared a short message about God and how we can find out truth through prayer and the Holy Ghost. They enjoyed it and said they would love to have us another time. It was an awesome experience.

On Thursday we had an appointment with Limbalan and James, a part member family. Limbalan is the nonmember but she usually comes to church every week.

On Friday we met with a member family from Ghana.

Then Saturday. Saturday was a long day hot day. It think it got up to 42 which is 107 in Fahrenheit. So in order to fully understand there is a few things you need to know. Recently they told us that they wanted us to use the car less here in Kalgoorlie so we decided that we're were going to start riding bikes. Now the bikes we have in Kalgoorlie are pretty funny. My bike has only one pedal (another fun story) and my companions bike wobbles side to side really bad when you ride it. He says that it's like being able to dance while riding a bike. Haha. But we were still set on using the bikes so we headed out. We must have looked pretty funny riding. Anyway we rode (and danced) our way around town and were able to start teaching a man named Gareth.  Then at about 1pm after stopping at the chapel we headed off to an appointment. My companion was  behind me and all of a sudden I heard a noise and him shouting. I turned around and saw him standing just looking at his bike. It turned out that the shaking of the bike had caused the back gear shifter thing to be bent into the wheel and it broke a good number of the spokes. Then it fell off as well. So his bike was completely out of action. After looking at it for a minute he made the comment "I think we might walk". And so the rest of the day we walked and walked and walked. But we survived the day so it was alright.

Then on Sunday after church we went to visit a lady the past missionaries had met. We shared the restoration with her and her family.

I think that is about all the exciting things that happened. Have a great week.
