This week we have been seeing a lot of miracles here in the
Goldfields.
On Tuesday we drove out to a little town called Coolgardie
which is about 35 kms south west of Kalgoorlie. We spent the day there doing
heaps of tracting. At the very last house we knocked on we found a member that
we didn't know about. That was pretty cool.
On Wednesday we had our zone conference for all the
missionaries who are out in the distant country areas. It was done over a video
conference app that we have on our phones. So we were at the chapel for the
most part of the day. Our mission President focused on how we can become
consecrated missionaries and improving our planning, finding, and teaching.
Later that day it started raining and when it rains here is rains pretty hard
and the streets flood. And because there is red sand/dirt everywhere here the
water turns red as well. Sometimes I wish I had Moses as my companion so he
could part the red sea. Haha. So we were going around following up with some of
the people on our records and in the process we met this other lady she told us
she would love to hear our message.
We were able to meet with her on Friday and brought one of
the counselors in the bishopric and his wife with us. It was cool because the
wife and the lady we were teaching had met a couple times before. We were able
to share a quick message about Heavenly Father and prayer and set up a return
appointment to share more with her.
On Saturday we were able to go around and got a crazy number
of teaching appointments set up for this week. I think we have 5 set on one day
which is more than we usually have in a week. It is really exciting to have
found so many people that we can start working with. Later that night we also
met with a Filipino man and his family and he brought his minister from his
church along as well. At first we weren't too sure how well this was going to
go down but it turned out alright. I think the most important thing was that we
were able to share our testimonies of the Book of Mormon and the restoration of
the gospel and left them with a copy of the Book of Mormon.
On Sunday we got up nice and early for ward council and then
church. During sacrament meeting Elder Afualo and I were assigned to give talks
and I thing it went alright. We were asked to talk about the beatitudes. I
related them to our purpose in life. As disciples of Jesus Christ we strive to
follow Him and become like Him. As a result of our obedience our Heavenly
Father is able to bless us. Then in second hour we had elders Quorum which is
held across the road at the university because there is not enough room in the
chapel. About 30 mins into class we got a call and text from the bishop telling
us to come back to the chapel because there was someone we might be able to
start teaching. He introduces is to a lady who had come to church for the first
time and she expressed a desire to continue coming and learn more. We look
forward to meeting with her. It was cool especially since we really didn't even
have to do anything.
Lastly we missed transfer calls so we will be staying in
Kalgoorlie for another 6 weeks at least which I am excited about.
Have a great week.
Love,
Elder Nelson
