So this week has been very exciting. So on last Monday we had our zone p-day with all of the other missionaries in the stake. We went to a park by a lake and played soccer, touch rugby, and capture the flag. Then later that night with the part member family in the ward, the Anitereas, again. It was an awesome lesson on the Restoration and at the end both the mother and the daughter committed to be baptized on the 15th of December. It has been awesome working with them and so we look forward to next month when they are baptized.
On
Tuesday we had service for one of the members setting up a fence and
pulling up some pavers. Then later we had dinner with a Filipino
family that joined the church just a couple years ago and we love going
over to visit them and hearing their testimonies of the gospel. And they
are both professional chefs so the food is always really good too. Then
that night we had a stake priesthood meeting and it was nice to hear
the stake presidency share their thoughts on the revelation from
conference.
Then on
Wednesday we did a heap of tracting. So we went and knocked on a couple
streets and didn't really find anyone. Then at one of the last houses we
knocked a couple times but no one answered. So when we were leaving I
felt that we needed to knock once more so we turned back and knocked
again. After a little bit a women answered and we were able to share a
little with her and give her a copy of the Book of Mormon. She said we
could come back in a couple weeks to share more so that was an awesome
experience we had. Later that night we had a dinner with a member family
that moved from the UK a year ago.
On
Thursday we had exchanges so I has with my friend from Kiribati again, Elder Tiaeki. So we went tracting together and met a lady who had family
in the other ward and had met with the missionaries in the past but
hadn't since moving to butler. So hopefully we will be able to work with
her some more here.
Then
on Friday we had an appointment in the evening with one of the recent
converts in the ward who is moving back to the UK. So for the past
couple weeks we have been taking the bishops son Nathan with us to lots
of our appointments that none of the other members can make. Nathan was
serving his mission in Australia Adelaide mission which is the next
state over until a few weeks ago when he came home after breaking his
arm pretty bad. So for the few weeks he has been home we have made him
our unofficial companion and so it had been fun taking him with us to
lessons before he heads back out on his mission.
Then
on Saturday we helped do some service for the member who is moving. And
then later that night we went up to one of the members farms for
dinner. They killed a pig and roasted it on a spit and then made some
other islander food like chop suey and taro. That was good. Then later
that night we got a call from the assistants telling me that I was being
transferred. I am going up to Geraldton which is a branch about 4 hours
both of us on the coast. I am excited to head out to country branch
again but I am sad to be leaving butler. It has been an awesome 7 months
here. I was really hoping to stay one more transfer here as there has
been a lot of progress with the people here. I will miss the members of
the ward but look forward to Geraldton. My new companion is an elder
from Samoa who has been out for only 6 weeks so I am excited for his
golden fire.
On
Sunday after church we visited a couple families to say good bye. The
Elders quorum pres, Pres Hotai invited us by for dinner and I will
defiantly miss their family. They are a great example of member
missionary work.
I hope everyone has a great week.
Love,
Elder Nelson
